These credits can be sold or traded in the market. Electric suppliers buy and retire SRECs to meet their RPS requirements, avoiding higher compliance fees.
Production Verification: To generate SRECs, solar projects must be registered with the SREC Registration Program (SRP). Solar facilities need a revenue-grade meter and must report their production to verify and issue SRECs.
